I have a simple question for those who supported the United States invasion of Afghanistan in 2001. It is my understanding that at least one of the reasons the United States invaded Afghanistan was to target Osama bin Laden and other members of Al Qaeda who the U.S. suspected were responsible for 9/11.
The United States invaded Afghanistan on October 7, 2001.
The only real evidence that I have seen that the U.S. had around the time to connect Osama bin Laden to 9/11 was that grainy videotape the Pentagon released on Dec. 13, 2001 that allegedly shows OBL taking credit for 9/11. However, besides the allegations that this video may be a fake, the video was said to have been made in "early November" of 2001, one month after the invasion.
So my question is...
What evidence did the United States have on Osama bin Laden and other members of Al Qaeda for being responsible for 9/11 to justify their invasion of Afghanistan to go after them?

Well, THEY, said it was Osama! If I am not mistaken it was 'suggested' by reporters by noon that very day! So, the question IS....if it assumed Bin Laden was behind the attacks, then why was the government so surprised? IK, Condi, the history buff had no idea....
But by Sept 2o, Bush knew for sure! He gave a heartwarming speech:
"The evidence we have gathered all points to a collection of loosely affiliated terrorist organizations known as al Qaeda. They are the same murderers indicted for bombing American embassies in Tanzania and Kenya, and responsible for bombing the USS Cole.
Al Qaeda is to terror what the mafia is to crime. But its goal is not making money; its goal is remaking the world -- and imposing its radical beliefs on people everywhere."
So there you have it! What more evidence do ya want? Some satellite photos of trucks leaving warehouses? Come on, would pictures of trucks and warehouses be a reason for war? Anyway, we did not need pictures to justify Afghanistan. As the President said...
they want to...|"impose their radical beliefs on the world!" Those fuckers! Who would do such thing?
What decent American asks questions at a time like that?? I think you need a day of prayer! :-)
well they said they had proof but they never gave it. Tony Blair gave some sanitized version of the proof, but I actually don't remember reading it anywhere. I doubt if it would hold up in a court of law.
Actually the thing that really pissed me off about the Afghanistan invasion was that initially the US asked for Osama, and the Taliban asked for proof that Osama was behind 9/11, and the US basically said fuck you, we don't need to show you any stinking proof and they went ahead and started bombing. I thought that was rather illegal of the US, but of course the US has done worse things since then...
And of course 9/11 was an inside job and Osama was a patsy, so there really was no "proof". wanted to say.
USA did not have any evidence against Osama bin Laden as the guilty behind 11. September 2001.
Osama bin Laden had nothing to do with it. After my opinion the planes which hit Twin Towers were remote controlled.
I believe the attack on Afghanistan was only a distraction from the main goal, which is the Middle-East. I believe the USA made a war in Afghanistan simply to confuse the world to believe there is a great war on terror.
